In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Taiwan government has launched the third donating campaign of surgical masks to countries in the Middle East. Taipei Commercial Representative Office in Kuwait in coordination with the UN-Habitat in Kuwait distributed 50,000 surgical masks imported from Taiwan. 15 boxes of masks arrived in Kuwait on June 8, which will be to aid the frontline medical staffs and volunteers.

Director of UN-Habitat GCC in Kuwait Dr. Ameera Al-Hassan together with Taiwan’s Representative Hua-Wei Mou witnessed the arrival of surgical masks at Kuwait Airport.

Dr. Al-Hassan expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Hua-Wei Mou for providing Personal Protection Equipment. Adding that UN-Habitat will distribute them to the front line medical staff to participate in the efforts of fighting COVID-19, which signifies the international collective efforts in reducing the effect of the pandemic.

Just weeks ago, Taipei Medical University Hospital and Kuwaiti government newly established Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital also held a video conference to conduct professional information exchange on COVID-19 epidemic prevention.

Taiwan’s Commercial Representative Hua-Wei Mou announced that his government is planning to send more epidemic prevention materials such as N95 masks and protection gowns to fight the COVID-19 pandemic in a symbolic gesture of cooperation between the two sides.
