The deputy director general of the Department of Environmental Affairs in the projects sector at the Municipality, Eng. Maysa Boushahri says a comprehensive study will be compiled to segregate waste at its source.
Boushahri added efforts are being exerted by the concerned authorities to determine suitable areas to place containers for collection of old clothes, paper, metals and plastics in each of the municipality’s branches in the six governorates, according to the request of the Environment Public Authority to recycle used clothes in particular in implementation of Article 39 of the Environmental Protection Law, which stipulates the commitment of state agencies to support recycling industries in order to achieve safety and efficiency in the use of recycled materials, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Boushahri added the Environmental Affairs Department is currently in the process of renewing and updating this initiative which was first introduced in 2017.
