Starting today, residents in Kuwait will experience a cooling of the water and a noticeable improvement in its temperature. The astronomical date marking the end of summer and the onset of the autumn solstice is set for the 23rd of this month, according to Kuwait’s official calendar, known as the Al-Ujairi calendar.
As the sun’s rays become perpendicular to the equator, daylight hours gradually decrease until the night and day reach equal number of hours on Sept 27. On this day, the sun will rise precisely at 5:39 in the morning and set at 5:39 in the evening. The time for the dawn prayer will be at 4:20 in the morning, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The center further explained that during Earth’s annual orbit around the sun, solar rays intersect the equator twice a year, once at the beginning of spring (vernal equinox) on March 20 and the other at the start of autumn, known as the autumn solstice on September 23.
Additionally, the Al-Ujairi Scientific Center noted the appearance of the Suhail star in Kuwait’s night sky, signaling a tangible drop in temperatures, particularly during the nighttime hours.
In related news, the center pointed out that Wednesday, September 27, marks the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday.
