Sixteen thousand students find themselves in ‘no-man’s’ land

A few days away from the start of the 2021/2022 academic year, the Arab private schools are facing a major crisis due to their inability to absorb all high students because of their numbers since before the Covid-19 pandemic each classroom accommodated 52 students, but to Covid-19 protocol, especially social distancing, the schools will have to accommodate only 40 students in ‘two shifts’ which will jeopardize the fate of more than 16,000 students, unless exceptional measures are taken.

Private sources told Al-Rai that the estimated surplus in each school ranges between 100 and 130 students, and with 161 schools comprising 81,344 male and female students, the total number ranges between 16,100 and about 21,000.

The decision to apologize for not being able to accept students into some Arab schools was like a thunderbolt hitting the parents, who were informed by the schools authorities that the issue not within their authority or powers, which prompted them to appeal to the Ministry of Education to find a quick solution to their problem before the start of schools.
