Six Iranians arrested for attempting to smuggle half a ton of hashish into the country

High-level security coordination thwarted the smuggling of half a ton of hashish, valued at one and a half million dinars by six Iranians who tried to smuggle it by sea and hide in the Kubbar Island, in preparation for recover it later.

Security coordination came within the framework of direct follow-up by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, to track down dealers and smugglers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Directorate-General of Drugs Control in the Ministry of Interior said that the criminal security sector, represented by the General Department of Narcotics Control, in cooperation with the General Department of the Coast Guard, the General Department of the Special Security Forces, and the Department of the Police Aviation Wing, were able to thwart the smuggling activity following a tip-off received by the Directorate-General for Drugs Control.

The sources told Al-Rai 20 bags were seized from the suspects weighing (500 kilograms) of hashish, with a street value of one and a half million dinars.

During interrogation the suspects admitted to attempting to smuggle the drugs into the country.
