Shuwaikh markets witness Ramadan shopping rush

The Shuwaikh markets witnessed a large turnout of shoppers, who visited stores to purchase their requirements in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, reported Al Rai daily.

The heavy crowds started from the early morning hours and led to the entrances and exits of the market being jammed, which made it difficult for people to shop and caused overcrowding in the parking lots on the main street. The major purchases were of dates and coffee, with the dates’ shop receiving a huge number of customers who were keen to stock up on dates before the extension of the partial ban to 16 hours during the month of Ramadan.
