All fruit and vegetable traders who close their stalls whenever inspection teams scour the area for violations will be issued citations by officials of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In an attempt to avoid inspections, stall owners resort to closing their stalls whenever they receive information about impending inspections.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan has now instructed all officials to initially issue citations to such closed stalls and to withdraw their licenses after a repeat of the violation. The ministry disclosed that inspection teams have been formed to inspect fruit and vegetable stalls across the country on a regular basis.
