Shipment of Made-in-India vaccine reached Kuwait

The Consignment of Made-in-India vaccines arrived in Kuwait today early morning. The Shipment contains the first batch of the 200,000 doses of Oxford Astrazenca COVISHIELD vaccine manufactured in Serum Institute of India.

Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Minister of India said in a tweet that- “Made in India vaccines now reach Kuwait. Valuing our close friendship and strong ties.”

Earlier the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India under a license from AstraZeneca, was approved for emergency use by the European Medicines Agency and Britain’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. Serum Institute of India is an accredited vaccine manufacturer by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The Embassy of India welcomed the arrival in Kuwait of Made-in-India AstraZeneca COVISHIELD Vaccines manufactured by Serum Institute of India, Pune.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the Republic of India and the State of Kuwait have seen close bilateral cooperation in fighting the pandemic together.
As the ‘Pharmacy of the World’ and the largest manufacturer of vaccines globally, India is contributing with Indian-made vaccines to many countries in the neighborhood and beyond.

Under Mission ‘Vaccine Maitri’, India has shared vaccines with more than fifteen countries worldwide, including many countries in the GCC region. More than 90 countries have requested India to export of Made-in-India vaccines.
India began the World’s Largest Vaccination Drive on 16 January 2021 and within a span of 15 days, has vaccinated over 4 million frontline workers, the fastest anywhere in the world.

The COVISHIELD vaccines come bearing the ancient Sanskrit Mantra, ‘Sarve Santu Niramayah’ meaning ‘May All Be Free From Disease’.
