Sea pirates attacked more than 20 Kuwaiti trawlers in 3 days

The head of the Kuwaiti Federation of Fishermen, Dhaher Al-Suwayan, confirmed that the phenomenon of sea pirates and robbers has come to haunt again to the extent that more than twenty fishermen were robbed at gunpoint in less than three days.

Al-Suwayan told a local Arabic daily, “Many fishermen, whether in the Fahaheel or Sharq area, do not want to return to work, because of the dangerous situation at sea citing lack of protection, especially since the pirates rob their entire fishing equipment, navigation equipment, air conditioners, and their catch of fish and shrimp and other personal property.

Al-Suwayan pointed out two red boats were seen in the area with 4 pirates each onboard, stressing that the situation is dangerous and requires the initiative of the concerned authorities to protect the Kuwaiti fishermen.
