Scientists discover link between depression in women and heart problems

Scientists from the Russian Tyumen Medical University found a relationship between depression and cardiovascular risk in women, saying depressive disorders are often associated with a whole range of serious diseases of the cardiovascular system and the metabolic system.

The Metabolic syndrome involves a violation of fat and carbohydrate metabolism, a sharp increase in body weight, a decrease in control of arterial hypertension, which makes it difficult to combat its acute manifestations, reports Al-Rai daily.

Depression and anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorders. According to WHO experts, nearly 50 percent of the world’s population has experienced neurological and psychological disorders at least once in their lives.
