School buses to hit the road again after three years hiatus

After a hiatus of three years, the buses will begin transporting students to schools again following the signing of the contracts by Ministry of Education for three educational areas, which are Jahra, Farwaniya and Hawalli, provided that they officially enter service with the start of the next academic year in September.

An educational source confirmed to Al-Rai that “the remaining tenders for other educational districts, special education schools and religious institutes are currently being audited by the Audit Bureau, and they will be awarded soon.”

He explained that “the duration of the new contracts is 3 academic years, starting from the year 2023-2024, with an average of 166 working days, during one academic year, as each academic year begins in September and ends in August”.

In addition, the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs, Rajaa Buaraki, confirmed to Al-Rai that “dozens of disbursement forms are signed daily for end-of-service indeminity for non-Kuwaiti teachers who meet the conditions,” indicating that “the budget is available and there is no delay in the disbursement mechanism.”
