Scarcity of Panadol in pharmacies

Despite the efforts of the Ministry of Health to solve the problem of repercussions of the pandemic, there are obstacles. Some pharmacies in the private sector and health centers are currently suffering from a lack of availability of Panadol, which is used in many cases to treat fever, symptoms of cold and flu, headache, arthritis, muscle pain, back, neck, shoulder, teeth, and mouth, Al Qabas reported.

As the ministry succeeded in vaccinating about 100,000 people per day with Pfizer and Oxford vaccines, this success, caused an increase in demand for Panadol medicine as some people take analgesics after taking a dose of the vaccine to manage fever or body ache which is common after vaccination.

The availability of panadol in pharmacies of some primary health care centers has become little compared to previous periods, which led to the distribution of other alternative medicines to patients and auditors of those facilities.

In this context, the Consultant of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Monitoring at Wara Hospital, Dr. Ghanem Al-Salem, confirmed that there are large numbers of vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccines who do not feel any side effects resulting from taking the doses, indicating that in case of feeling high temperatures, headache or nausea, It is advised to take Panadol or alternatives depending on the availability.

Al-Salem added to the daily that the alternatives to Panadol, are no less efficient and quality than it. Some disease states. Al-Salem pointed out that there are other alternatives for people who show symptoms after receiving vaccinations, such as drinking plenty of fluids, taking cold compresses on the head and under the armpits, and relaxing the muscles, and not being exposed to the sun.

He indicated that the symptoms can last between a few hours to 48 hours in most cases, calling on those who have symptoms to increase for more than that to review the health center near his home or the specialist doctor.
