Saudi King opens eighth session of Shura Council

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated on Wednesday the works of the first year of the eighth session of the Shura Council.

In an address to the session, held via a video link, King Salman reaffirmed commitment to serving “the guests of the Gracious God” (the pilgrims) despite the exceptional circumstances brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

He commended the efforts made by the Saudi authorities to curb the spread of the pandemic. King Salman said the Kingdom was looking forward to chairing the G-20 during the summit, due late this month, with a view to promoting development and cooperation on a global scale.

He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment, as a co-founder of OPEC, to maintaining the stability of the global oil market and bolstering up the OPEC+ partnership.
