Saudi Arabia reports, 52 deaths; Qatar passes 100,000 confirmed cases

This brings total number of coronavirus infections in the country to 213,716

Saudi Arabia reported 4,207 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 213,716, the Ministry of Health announced on Monday (July 6).

In recent days there was a slight rise in the recovery growth curve, by which the recoveries in the Kingdom are higher than the number of cases.

The ministry reported 4,398 recoveries today, with total recoveries in the kingdom at 149,634. There are 2,254 cases in intensive care.

The ministry also confirmed 52 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the kingdom to 1,968.

Qatar passes 100,000 confirmed coronavirus cases

Qatar has passed the grim milestone of 100,000 confirmed novel coronavirus cases, the health ministry said on Monday.

The Gulf’s second worst-hit country has now 100,345 confirmed infections, by which 546 new cases were detected on Monday alone, and 133 deaths.

The death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 133 following five new deaths over the last 24 hours, said the ministry.

Meanwhile, 1,614 patient have recovered fully, taking the overall number of patients recovered up to 93,898. While 706 people are currently under acute hospital care with 62 admissions in the past 24 hours.

The new daily rise of 546 is a minor decrease on the previous day’s increase of 616. With a population of about 2.7 million people, the energy-rich Gulf state has one of the world’s highest per capita number of confirmed cases, according to Reuters.
