Saudi Arabia reports highest single-day number of coronavirus cases

Saudi Arabia has announced the highest single-day number of coronavirus cases with 4,919 new cases reported on Wednesday, a record jump since the COVID-19 outbreak in the Kingdom.

The Health Ministry also announced additional 39 fatalities, taking the death toll to 1,091, while the country’s infection tally has risen to 141,234.

According to Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al Abdul Ali, 2,122 more people have recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recovered cases in the Kingdom to 91,662.

There are 48,481 active cases, including 1,859 critically ill patients who are under intensive care.

Riyadh recorded the highest number of infections with 2,371 cases reported in a single day, followed by Makkah with 282 and Jeddah with 273.
