Saudi Arabia reports 3,941 new cases; Qatar reports 1,026 cases

Latest figures bring the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 154,233

Saudi Arabia on Saturday reported 3,941 new coronavirus cases, falling below the 4,000 cases after six straight days of reporting record numbers above the 4,000-mark, the Ministry of Health announced.

The ministry also announced 46 deaths, the second-highest single-day toll, taking the total number of virus-related fatalities in the country to 1,230.

Meanwhile, the ministry said 3,153 more patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries in the Kingdom to 98,917.

Riyadh recorded the highest number of infections with 740 new cases followed by Jeddah, Mecca and Hofuf reporting 421, 354, 285 infections, respectively.

Taif also saw a spike in COVID-19 cases recording 221 new infections.

Qatar reports 1,026 Covid-19 cases, single fatality

The Qatari Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that 1,026 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) over the past 24 hours.

This brings this Gulf country’s total number of confirmed infections with the globally spreading illness to 86,488, the ministry said in a press statement, adding that the fresh cases came due to close contacts with previously unveiled virus patients.

The ministry also confirmed an extra Covid-19 fatality, bringing this Gulf country’s death toll to 94 since the outbreak of the disease.

In addition, 1,354 more people were cured of the globally spreading bug, taking the overall count of recoveries to 66,763 so far, according to the statement.
