SAB says it dealt with government contracts worth 1.5 billion dinars within 3 months

The State Audit Bureau said that it dealt with 851 issues by giving its opinion between April 1 and June 30 – issues worth 1.5 billion dinars (about 4.8 billion dollars).

Hamza Al-Muhanna, Associate Auditor at the Department of Advance Control of Public and Service Affairs at the Bureau, told Al-Jarida daily, that about 86 percent of the total number of issues of ministries and government departments during that period were worth 1.4 billion dinars (about 4.5 billion dollars).

Al-Muhanna explained that 9 percent of the topics were from entities with attached budgets worth 26 million dinars (about 84.6 million dollars), while 5 percent of them were from entities with independent budgets worth 50 million dinars (about 162.7 million dollars).

For her part, Hayat Al-Hashash, an assistant auditor at the Pre-Control Department for Social and Health Affairs, said that the Bureau issued its opinion between approval, conditional approval, or renewal of approval for 445 subjects, worth 700 million dinars (about 2.2 billion dollars).

Al-Hashash added that the Bureau refused approval of 22 issues worth 18 million dinars (about 58.5 million dollars) during the aforementioned period due to the lack of validity of the awarding procedures followed by some authorities.

She stated that the Bureau had rejected the papers of 314 subjects worth 553 million dinars (about 1.8 billion dollars) because the authorities had not provided the Bureau papers and documents for the presented subjects and related documents, data and clarifications.
