The Cabinet decision to allow the Kuwait International Airport to operate to the pre-Corona pandemic level, has a positive bearing on the aviation, tourism and travel sectors, and the stakeholders in these sectors say the decision will benefit the national economy on the one hand and reduce the cost of travel tickets on the other.

An informed source in the aviation sector told Al-Rai, the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation is ready to implement all the requirements of the Council of Ministers.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tourism and Travel Offices Federation, Muhammad Al-Mutairi, said the decision to operate at full capacity means an increase in passenger flow at the airport which will boost the GDP amidst the state’s ambitious plans to develop the air transport market in Kuwait.

Al-Mutairi added, the decision will also help reduce the cost of air tickets which at one time had skyrocketed in the midst of the rush to get back to Kuwait. He stated round trip tickets to some destinations are expected to drop to below 100 dinars.

The Federation member Hussein Al-Sulaiten said, “lifting restrictions on operations at the airport will benefit the citizen mainly in the recruitment of domestic workers and when they travel abroad for vacations. He added, the ticket fare is expected to drop by at least 50 percent.
