Return of vaccinated Expats with quota system under discussion

Kuwait international airport (KIA) authorities are considering different options to ease travel restrictions and raise the operational capacity of the airport during the current month, Al-Rai daily reported.

Among the suggestions is to raise the percentage of operation at Kuwait International Airport (KIA)  to 30% for departure and return, and to allow entry to residents provided that they are vaccinated and hold valid residencies.

The most prominent plans proposed include setting a quota to receive the arrivals coming to the country, under strict conditions.

One of the conditions would be allowing entry of only those expatriates who have received two doses of one of the vaccines approved and officially recognized in Kuwait (Pfizer, AstraZeneca / Oxford, Moderna, Johnson). The PCR examination shall be conducted within 3 days of arrival, and the quarantine shall be terminated as soon as the result is negative.

In parallel, the airport is currently witnessing an increase in departing traffic with the movement of students studying abroad and citizens wishing to spend their summer vacation abroad, as well as some expatriates traveling to their home countries.
