Renewal of expats’ residence linked to payment of govt dues: MOI

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid has issued a ministerial decision amending some provisions of Ministerial Resolution No ‘957-2019’ in the executive regulations of the Foreigners Residence Law and its amendments.

The decision stipulates in its first article, issued in the Official Gazette “Kuwait Al-Youm”, published today, that the last paragraph of Article “25” of the aforementioned Ministerial Resolution No. 957/2019 be amended to become as follows: ‘To obtain or renew regular residence, or transferring it to an employer or another sponsor, proving his registration in the health insurance or insurance system issued by the Ministry of Health in the name of the expatriate. Regular residence is granted for a period not exceeding the period of health insurance, in addition to paying any sums of money owed by the residence applicant to any of the government agencies.
