Remittances from expatriates in Kuwait recorded an annual decrease of 7%, with a value of KD 400 million, to reach about KD 5.3 billion last year, according to the preliminary data of the balance of payments for the year 2020, issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait. Al-Rai daily reported.
The decline in the value of expatriate remittances in Kuwait during the year 2020, coincides with the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic during the past year and its economic repercussions, which resulted in the layoffs of thousands of expatriates from their jobs, in addition to tens of thousands whose salaries were reduced at different rates.
