Registration for vaccination for 18-year-olds begins; third dose not mandatory for travel

Despite the opening of registration to receive the booster dose (third dose) of the “Covid 19” vaccine for all those 18 years and over, informed sources said the conditions for immunization have not changed and therefore the procedures related to travel “so far” are still the same.

Al-Rai quoting health sources said the completion of immunization by obtaining two doses of the approved vaccine (Pfizer – Oxford – Moderna) and one dose of the “Johnson & Johnson” vaccine has not changed at the present time, noting that travelers coming to the country are also considered immunized, if they have received two doses of one of the unapproved vaccines, including (Sinopharma, Sinovac and Sputnik), provided that the person has received at least one additional dose of the approved vaccines in Kuwait.

Since the international organizations have recommended giving a third dose with the aim of enhancing immunity against the “Corona” virus, the sources confirmed that the conditions for completing immunization “will continue as they are in the current period with the ability to change later”, to be part of the basic vaccination schedule against “Covid 19”, in light of what is recommended by international organizations, based on the results of studies that indicate that the effect of the vaccine is declining after a period of 6 months, which prompted several countries to start giving booster doses.

Last week, the European Medicines Agency authorized the administration of a third dose of the “Pfizer” vaccine to adults over the age of 18, at least 6 months after the date of receiving the second dose, which is the same procedure that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced yesterday that Kuwait has opened the door for registration for booster dose which will be given on priority basis.
