Radar failure at KIA paralyzes the airport for 4 hours

A technical malfunction in the radar of Kuwait International Airport (KIA) disrupted the air navigation for about 4 hours. Take-off and landing of 13 aircraft through the airport were delayed, Al-Rai reported.

Informed sources revealed to the daily that the technical malfunction that occurred in the radar at the airport caused the delay of a number of flights. Some of them were also transferred to neighboring airports before air traffic returned to normal.

The radar was exposed to an electrical technical malfunction, it went out of service before 12 noon and restarted working after 3 pm. An investigation committee was formed to find out the reasons for that the failure of the radar.
