Pakistan Sports Association (PSA) Kuwait organized a Pakistan National Day Hockey Championship on 23 March at KOC Hockey ground in coordination of KOC Hockey Committee on the occasion of Pakistan’s National Day celebrations. The hockey match was played between Pakistan green and white teams. Pakistan White won the championship by 3-2.

The chief guest on the occasion was the Ambassador of Pakistan to Kuwait H.E. Ghulam Dastgir, who was joined by President PSA Maqbool Ahmed, PSA Founder/Director General Muhammad Irfan Adil, and PSA Vice President Muhammad Younas Shahid.

Also, Hafiz Abdullah and Anwar Suhal from KOC Hockey Committee, Shamshad Khan Tanoli, Abid Ch, Sadaqat Ali Trimzi, Dr. Jehanzeb, Malik Ashfaq, Ijaz Virk, Abid Malik, Adil Qayum, and Malik Adnan, who were among the guests. Many dignitaries and hockey lovers watched the thrilling game.  Pakistan Green team captain received the Runner up Trophy while Pakistan White clinched the winner trophy, which was received by Captain Wasim.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Dastgir, said that hockey is the National game of Pakistan and that he was delighted to watch this thrilling game today. He congratulated the PSA Team and KOC Hockey committee for organizing such a wonderful hockey championship on the happiest occasion of Pakistan’s National Day. He appreciated both teams for their spirit and for displaying excellent skills in the game.

On his part, Mr. Adil said that the event is organized by PSA in recognition of Pakistan’s National Day in order to promote its significance among the youth. He stated, “Kuwait is our second home and we wish peace and prosperity to our Kuwaiti brothers and sisters.”

For his part, PSA President Maqbool Ahmed said, “Pakistan Sports Association Kuwait (PSA) has persistently been engaging the youth and the community in positive and healthy sports activities. It is an avenue for camaraderie and to develop a sense of belonging among individuals in the shared pursuit of sports and to provide an outlet for advanced participation and competition in a particular sport.”

PSA is a non-political, non-partisan and non-governmental organization, founded by Muhammad Irfan Adil on 14 August, 2013. PSA is known for organizing sports events and festivals among the community with the collaboration of local sports authorities and will work together with local organizations and charities to enhance the standing and awareness of the benefits of sport and exercise.

He appreciated both teams for their excellent performances and congratulates the winning team. At the end, Muhammad Younas Shahid, VP of PSA, thanked all the guests for witnessing the thrilling game of hockey. A prize distribution ceremony was held at the end with certificates of participation presented to all players by distinguished guests. Refreshments were served to all.
