Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development and the Minister of State for Women’s and Childhood Affairs, Mai Al-Baghli, has submitted a report to the Public Prosecution about suspicious contracts citing financial irregularities in which former minister and some senior officials from inside and outside the ministry are involved.

A local Arabic daily quoting ministry sources said the information came against the backdrop of the investigations of the committee formed by the former Minister of Social Affairs, Fahd Al-Shariaan, about violations in 7 cooperatives, which recommended referring a former minister to the Court of Ministers, and a former senior official in the ministry to the Public Prosecution, for the damages caused to some “cooperatives” as a result of their decisions and appointments in the cooperatives, which harmed the financial positions of those coops and weakened their solvency.

Moreover, the sources revealed that the Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Abdulaziz Sari signed, before the New Year holidays, two decisions to refer the reports of the two committees formed to review the work and accounts of cooperatives in the Farwaniya and Al-Ahmadi governorates to the Public Prosecutor to take whatever legal measures he deems appropriate.

The sources added, the two reports contain serious financial and administrative abuses and irregularities of criminal nature, and would harm the financial position of the two coops and waste shareholders’ money.
