In a recent study, researchers have developed a mouse model that closely mirrors the progression of Alzheimer’s disease in humans. They tested a novel vaccine targeting brain cells that produce an aging-associated glycoprotein, a hallmark of the disease.
Mice treated with the vaccine displayed reduced anxiety and heightened awareness, suggesting potential for disease prevention. Lead researcher Chih-Lun Hsiao highlighted the significance of achieving similar results in humans, stating it could delay or even prevent Alzheimer’s. Notably, the vaccine also decreased amyloid accumulation in brain areas linked to language, attention, and problem-solving.
