Popular cafés to integrate civilization with heritage

In a project aimed at preserving the character of country’s heritage, and keeping pace with development and Kuwait Vision 2035, the Minister of Social Affairs, Engineer Mai Al-Baghli, during a meeting yesterday has presented to the Council of Ministers, during its meeting yesterday the initial designs for the development of popular cafes.

The development includes places for family gatherings, services for the elderly, activities of cultural nature, green spaces, in addition to supporting small projects and adopting the ideas of creative youth, reports Al-Qabas daily.

During the meeting, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the minister explained the decision aims to upgrade popular cafés and re-design them in a new geometric shape to integrate modernity with Kuwaiti heritage.

The minister said, “We are keen to form a new board of directors for the Popular Café Fund, dominated by young faces, to keep pace with the process of renaissance and development. We are keen to work from the cultural aspect by launching a heritage library,” and sustainability of the symbolic prices of popular cafés.

The minister said the board of directors will include 7 members with specializations, including for the first time four women, with different specializations and experiences, with the aim of empowering women and enhancing their role in future development plans.

Later, Minister Al-Baghli made an inspection tour of the popular cafés, to get firsthand information on their needs, and to follow up on the planned modernization and development plan in future
