The Minister of Public Works, Dr. Amani Bouqmaz, during the meeting of the rain committee on 9 Nov, at the Sabah Al-Naseer area discussed plans to avoid the flooding that occurs during the rainy season especially at the 6th Ring Road.
During the past years, the area of Sabah Al-Naseer has been experiencing critical flooding conditions, and in order to prevent this from happening the Public Authority of Land and Transport has developed two rescue plans that have an immediate and permanent solution.
The first plan is to establish a water tank with a length of 500 m, a width of 120 m, near the university city in Shaddiyah, opposite Sabah Al-Nasser area, to accommodate about 150,000 cubic meters of rainwater, this tank will be able to accommodate water flows even at peak conditions, and then will be moved elsewhere for discharge, the second plan includes the implementation of two pipelines, the first will absorb the water coming from west of Jleeb and Shaddadiyah areas, to be connected to the lake located on the Sixth Ring Road, and the other will be from Umm Al-Momineen Street in “Sabah Al-Nasser” parallel to the first line to draw water from the interior area so that it does not get flooded.
