Plan to vaccinate 2.7 million people in Kuwait

The Ministry of Health plans to vaccinate 2 million and 775 thousand people, citizens, and residents of Kuwait. Ministry is working to secure 5 million 700 thousand doses of the vaccine, more than the required quantities in pursuit of building herd immunity against the virus, Al Rai reported

Informed sources revealed to the daily that the estimations in the ministry’s plan came after coordination with other relevant state agencies. The Vaccination plan is drawn with regard to the total number of citizens and residents willing to get the vaccine.

According to the sources, the numbers expected to receive the vaccine is about two million and 775 thousand people, citizens, and residents, out of a total of about 3 million and 700 thousand who are willing to get the vaccine. These numbers surfaced after excluding the age group less than 16 years, pregnant women, lactating women, and people who have hypersensitivity,  as per the recommendations of international organizations.

With the estimates of vaccinating 2.775 million citizens and residents, the ministry’s plan is to obtain 5.7 million doses with a possibility to increase the required order of doses whenever the need arises.

Based on these figures, Kuwait needs 5.55 million doses, while it was able to secure 5.7 million, which means that there are 150,000 additional doses sufficient to vaccinate an additional 75,000 people, in anticipation of any increase in the numbers expected to receive the vaccination.

The sources emphasized that Kuwait’s share of vaccinations is secured and the vaccine will arrive in batches.
