The Embassy of the Philippines in cooperation with LBC Express held a gift giving mission to Overseas Filipino Workers presently incarcerated in Kuwait Central Jail. 11 male and 15 female received individual boxes containing essential hygiene items, socks and shorts. Two staff from the embassy and representatives from LBC Express were present to give out the presents.

The project was initiated by spouse of Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Noor Jaripha Lomondot with LBC Express with Team head Nina Del Mundo. “The embassy under the auspices of the Philippine Ambassador His Excellency Mohammad Noordin Pendosina Lomondot had to secure a special permit and clearance to be able for our team to bring the gifts in and hand over personally to the OFWs” stated Mrs. Lomondot. Del Mundo said that strict measures were implemented prior to gifts were allowed entry but LBC Express and Embassy thanked the jail management for the cooperation given.

The project was planned two months prior to delivery and items were purchased by LBC Express week before distribution. “We prepared more than enough boxes and anticipated a big number but we were told that there were only 26 left in jail and are going home soon too. Initially there were about more than a hundred but have been repatriated to the Philippines in previous weeks’ said Del Mundo.

Philippine Ambassador Lomondot thanked spouse Mrs. Lomondot, LBC Expres, Rian Banaga Area Manager, Nina Del Mundo and Ricky Laxa GMA 7 News Correspondent for spearheading the project and Embassy staff for delivering the items in jail. LBC Cargo will also sponsor baking classes’ scholarship to selected OFWs. The project will be under the auspices of Mrs. Noor Jaripha Lomondot in January 2022.
