PAM permitting expat workers to transfer after one year instead of three years

Expat workers on work permits of employers registered on a list of good standing at the Labor Department are allowed to transfer to another employer after one year from the date of issuance of the work permit instead of three years, according to the Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), Ahmed Al-Mousa, Al Qabas daily reported.

This is provided that the approval of the employer is obtained, and the transfer of such visas occurs between employers on the list, in addition to adhering to the remaining conditions and regulations set by PAM in this regard. This decision was taken in light of the effect of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic measures on the labor market.

Al-Mousa added that the decision aims to facilitate the movement of employees between employers, and in accordance with the decisions taken by the government in this regard.

He also stressed that this decision came in response to the needs of the labor market during the current period, and it will be enforce until further notice, as it takes into account the measures undertaken by the Council of Ministers to address the current pandemic that have impacted the labor market.
