The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) Sunday announced a ban on the import of all types of fresh, chilled, frozen and processed bird meat from the Nord (Hauts-de-France region, France bordering Belgium) region in the Republic of France due to the outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza.
PAFN Secretary of the Supreme Committee for Food Safety, Adel Al-Suwait, said in a press statement that the committee recommended, in an emergency meeting, banning the import of all kinds of meat, its derivatives, products and table eggs, except for products heat treated at a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius, reports Al-Qabas daily.
