He explained that the machines’ storage capacity is 275 thousand civil id cards, with 5 thousand civil id cards in each machine, revealing that there are 160 thousand civil id cards until yesterday, waiting for their owners. He pointed out that PACI dispenses 9 thousand cards per day at the headquarters only, and is expected to increase to 12 thousand civil id cards in the next stage for the return of normal life to the country.

Al-Madhen said that the process of issuing the civil id card for a child who has reached 5 years and requires a personal photo, as well as the replacement of the lost one, necessitates to the personal presence of its owners to check and prevent manipulation or forgery, in order to make sure the civil registry of Kuwait is correct, and to protect the owners of transactions.

Al-Madhen pointed out that the Commission, under the directives of its Director General, Musaed Al-Asousi, in facilitating transactions and distributing civil id cards as much as possible, and mentioned the timings to receive the civil id cards are from 9 am to 5 pm. He urged everyone to speed up their acceptance of their civil id cards so that PACI can store other civil id cards.

He added, “The problem that we face is the persons coming to receive the civil id card without making sure it’s ready.”

Highlighting that those who want their civil id cards can call 1889988 to make sure their civil id card is ready, he explained that if the operator mentions that the civil id card is being issued, then this means that it is not stored in the machines, and therefore, there is no need for the person to get it. He added that the person has to wait only days, and stressed that PACI receives persons with completed civil id cards in the evening, without setting an appointment, as a convenience.

On priority, he explained that priority is being given to handing over civil id cards to citizens, servants and those without a card, in addition to newborns, replacing those lost, and first-time registers, because they are most in need than others.

Pointing to the Kuwait Mobile ID app, he emphasized that the app gives citizens and expats the freedom to deal with governmental and non-governmental agencies, as the digital civil id card is approved once the process of issuing the civil id card is completed, provided that the original card is renewed. He urged everyone to use it as it provides safety and speed in completing transactions, without the hassle of reviewing or carrying the civil id card, which has the possibility of being damaged or lost.
