PACI to introduce changes to its operation to deal with the public

The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) will begin allowing visitors, including those wanting to get their Civil ID cards, to enter their premises two weeks from present according to the schedule set by the Council of Ministers, reports a local daily.

The dates for completion of any transaction, such as accepting the Civil ID cards, will be announced soon. PACI will ensure that there is strict compliance with the preventive health measures set up to limit the spread of coronavirus. With regards to the ‘Kuwait Mobile ID’ application, the authority released a circular about the application to the Central Bank of Kuwait requesting approval to use the mobile ID in banking transactions. The application has not received approval as valid for travel as the process governing the entry and exit from Kuwait International Airport is under the supervision of the Interior Ministry.

The daily reports that the children below five years old and domestic workers are among the groups that will not be able to avail of a digital Civil ID. It is expected that based on the estimation of PACI’s target of ID issuance before the crisis, the number of visitors who will receive their Civil IDs will range from 800,000 to one million – an average of 9,000 cards per day.

PACI launched a ID Mobile Kuwait application through which citizens and expats can obtain a digital civil identification card that can be used in various government and non government transactions.
