PAAAFR gives nod to remove trees that hamper development

The Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fisheries Resources (PAAAFR) has given nod to the Mishref Cooperative Society to remove trees that hamper the expansion of car parking area for visitors.

This comes after similar scenarios in Adailiya and Al-Surra when Sidr trees, willows, noir flowers, antelopes, and others were removed to make way for development.

Deputy Director General of the Aesthetic Agriculture Sector in PAAAFR, Ghanim Al-Sanad, explained that “the sector granted work orders to a contractor to redevelop one of the important roundabouts in Plot 5 in the Mishref region, to reduce traffic congestion, at the request of the parents living in the area and after the approval of the concerned authorities.

Al-Sanad indicated that “as part of the Authority’s cooperation with the private sector in developing and beautifying streets, the Authority has granted approval to the Mishref Cooperative Society” to use one of the open areas as car parks for the visitors to the cooperative, based on an agreement that for every tree that is uprooted from the site, 100 alternative trees will be planted, provided they are planted in the Mishref region so that the region is not deprived of its trees, ”noting that this is according to the law.
