Over 24,000 traffic violations issued in Shuwaikh last week

The five-year joint committee, under the direct directives of Major General Youssef Al-Khadda, Director General of the General Traffic Department, and with the field supervision of his assistant for technical affairs, Brigadier General Muhammad Al-Adwani, implemented a field security campaign in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area Sunday evening, Al Jarida reported. The campaign resulted in the registration of 120 traffic violations, the arrest of 6 residence and work law violators, and the issuance of 112 reports violating workshops.

Major Abdullah Bu Hassan, an officer in the Department of Public Relations and Traffic Awareness at the General Traffic Department, announced that an on-the-spot campaign was launched in the Shuwaikh industrial area. The campaign was conducted by a committee consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Residence Investigations, the Ministries of Commerce and Industry, Electricity, Kuwait Municipality, and the Environment Public Authority. The goal was to seize violating factories, workshops, and stores, as well as neglected vehicles and vehicles that are being repaired without obtaining written permission from the General Department of Investigations at the Ministry of Interior.

Bu Hassan explained that the department conducted a series of security and traffic campaigns throughout the past week. The campaigns resulted in the issuance of 24,508 traffic violations, the arrest of 27 juveniles driving vehicles without licenses, and the referral of 103 vehicles and 25 motorcycles to the impoundment garage. In addition, 25 reckless drivers were arrested. The patrols of the traffic departments in the six governorates, in addition to the patrols of the Traffic Operations Department and the patrols of the Traffic Investigation Department, participated in the campaigns.

He added that the patrols dealt with 1266 accidents during the past week, including 210 serious accidents and 1056 minor accidents. The patrolmen of the General Directorate of Rescue Police referred 11 security wanted persons to the competent authorities, whose security restrictions varied between absenteeism, violation of the residency law, and criminal request. In addition, they seized 14 vehicles wanted by security and judicial authorities.

Moreover, the patrols carried out a number of field security campaigns and security deployments in various governorates. This resulted in the arrest of 68 wanted persons, including security, judicial, and absenteeism. The patrols also recorded 3468 traffic violations and referred 11 vehicles wanted by security and judicial authorities to the General Traffic Department’s detention garage. In addition, 11 people were referred to the General Department of Narcotics Control after being apprehended and found in possession of narcotics and drug substances.
