In line with Kuwait’s trend towards returning life to normal and achieving family stability for expatriates, especially for professions that the state needs, and compensating for any shortage of manpower for agricultural professions and the like, the General Administration of Residence Affairs concluded during a meeting, Sunday, several recommendations related to allowing the issuance of family entry visas and commercial and touristic for a number of categories.
A security source confirmed to Al-Anba that these recommendations will be submitted first to the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Residence Affairs Major General Anwar Al-Barjas for a review, and submitted to Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali and the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Lieutenant-General Sheikh Faisal Al-Nawaf, after discussion the issue will be placed in front of the Council of Ministers.
Allowing all medical personnel working in (Ministry of Health – Ministry of Defense – National Guard – National Petroleum Corporation) who meet the conditions of joining a family to bring their wives and children with a family entry visa.
Female doctors and nurses are allowed to bring their children under the age of 16 on ‘dependent’ visa. In case the male applicant if he can sponsor the family members, they will be granted a tourist visa and then transferred under the applicant’s sponsorship; allowing the doctor and nurse to bring her husband on a tourist visit visa after signing a pledge not to convert it into a residence permit; allowing female medical staff (other than the doctor and nurse) to bring their husbands and sons upon tourist visit only; allowing medical staff to transfer from a visit to joining a family, according to the applicable terms and conditions.
Second: The private medical sector — allowing female doctors and nurses working in private hospitals to bring their children under the age of 16 with a visa to join a family according to the applicable terms and conditions. In the event the applicant is male his wife and children will be granted the tourist visit and then transferred under the father’s sponsorship if he meets the conditions.
Third: The private educational sector — allowing heads of families working in the private educational sector who meet the conditions to bring their wives and children on a family entry visa. In the event that the applicant has a work entry visa in the educational sector and has not yet obtained a residence permit and wants to bring his wife and children, he is granted a commercial entry visa on the sponsorship of the educational establishment that issued his work permit; allowing female teachers working in the private sector to bring their husbands on tourist visit visa with signing a pledge not to transfer it into residence permit; allowing the director, assistant director, teacher, and specialist in the private sector to bring their children under the age of 16 to join the family, according to the applicable conditions. In the event the applicant can sponsor his family, the members are granted a tourist visit which then can be transferred to the father’s sponsorship if he meets the conditions.
With regard to the public sectors in providing food security, it was decided to allow 7 categories can be issued entry visas (commercial visit – work permit) — farms, fishermen, livestock and poultry breeders, dairy producers, factories and suppliers of foodstuffs and bakeries, food shopping centers, restaurants and food supplies, in addition to water and beverage bottling companies, provided that the prescribed percentage is subject to the discretion of the director of the department only in proportion to (the company’s activity/number of workers/assessment of need).
