In a press statement on Tuesday, the Communications and Information Technology Commission authorities announced that it discovered and destroyed a number of telecommunication equipment that violated technical specifications. The said devices were said to be causing major interference on local communication networks.
Officials said that the process which was carried out under the supervision of technical staff knowledgeable about environmental hazards, was a move to advise those planning to import telecommunication equipment to go through proper channels with required applications and technical specifications attached, and submit the application to the authority’s online portal for approvals and permits in order to avoid legal repercussions and confiscation of the items.
