The customs officers at the Nuwaiseeb border port were able to thwart the smuggling of large quantities of cigarette cartons.
The customs authorities said the citizen of an unidentified Gulf state has been taken into custody. He was reportedly driving a vehicle registered in Kuwait, reports Al-Rai daily.
Scores of cigarette cartons have been seized and the suspect has been referred to the concerned authorities.
