Number of shops and outlets closed reached 112

The total number of closings of shops, complexes and other outlets in all governorates from last June 30 until the start of the second stage reached 112 administrative closings, according to the Director General of Kuwait Municipality, Ahmed Al-Manfuhi. Only recently, the municipality issued 9 administrative closure orders in the past few days for failing to comply with health requirements, reports Al Rai daily.

Among those orders was the suspension of the Friday market and another large market, closing a famous furniture store in one of the commercial complexes, and closing a women’s clothing exhibition in a hotel in Farwaniya, in addition to five other stores in various areas.

Al- Manfouhi stressed that the municipality would not hesitate to close any complex, store, or market that does not adhere to the health guidelines set by the Cabinet. The Ministry of Health (MoH) stressed that the municipality departments and teams will exert firm action for the safety of all.

Al-Manfouhi said, “The Friday market was closed based on a report prepared by the specialized field team headed by the Deputy Director General for Sector Affairs in the governorates of the capital and Al-Jahra M. Faisal Sadiq. They inspected the market on the first day once business resumed, and highlighted the non-compliance with the health guidelines set by the health authorities, and the need to implement them during the second stage of the gradual return to normal life plan, including a recommendation to close it. ”

Al-Manfouhi added that the approval for opening the Friday market and restarting its activity was taken at the start of the second stage, provided that health conditions and stall owners adhere to all instructions issued by the health authorities, but these requirements, along with the social distancing protocols, were not followed on the first day of the opening of the Friday market.”
