New Farwaniya Hospital to provide integrated services, says health minister

Kuwait Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah described the soon-to-open Farwaniya Hospital on Thursday as an “integrated medical structure” that will provide the city’s inhabitants with each and every healthcare service available, both on a diagnostic and therapeutic level.

Speaking to KUNA after a tour of the facility, expected to open its doors at the start of 2022, the minister said the hospital will strengthen the country’s healthcare system, having been equipped with the most up-to-date medical equipment. The new hospital has been built on a total area of 423,000 square meters, and includes 955 beds, 233 intensive care rooms, 318 general and specialized clinics, 156 specialized dental clinics and 31 operating rooms, in addition to 1,400 public parking spaces, he added.

It will offer services that were not available at its predecessor hospital in cardiology and specialized surgery as it will include rooms for interventional catheters, pediatric and neurosurgery and vascular surgery. It will also include an integrated unit for assisted reproduction, containing two operating rooms and a transplant laboratory, some 20 rooms for single-day operations and an integrated rehabilitation center as well as the capability to provide chemotherapy treatment to cancer patients. The country is expecting to introduce a further number of hospitals next year, he added.
