Municipality removed 250 violating camps in just three weeks

Since the start of the camping season which began in the middle of last month, thousands of tents have spread all over the designated camping areas — some licensed, others in violation of the Municipality instructions, which has placed an additional burden on the Municipality since it has been dismantling 15 camps on a daily basis.

Al-Rai quoting Spring Camps Committee said the Municipality “in just 3 weeks, has removed 250 violating camps, approximately 80 camps per week, which works out to 10 to 15 camps every day, part of which was due to complaints received from the Ministry of Electricity and Water, and the Ministry of Oil, a big number of them erected outside the camping areas, in addition to others which were being used for purposes other than they are meant for.”

When asked about the possibility of using caravans instead of erecting tents, without obtaining a license, the source said to “placing caravans in camping sites is against the rules and regulations, but in the event of obtaining a permit, families can be permitted to use caravans within the specified are provided they are used only for the particular purpose and not for commercial activity or any other.
