The Deputy Director-General for Municipal Affairs of the Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorates, Eng. Ammar Al-Ammar, that the number of complaints received against bachelors housing in private housing areas reached 200 from over 4 governorates — Al-Asimah, Hawalli, Farwaniya and Jahra — during 2021 and added singles have been evicted from 53 properties.
Al-Ammar added, in his report the procedures followed byt committee on the phenomenon of bachelors housing in private and model housing areas, that the procedures followed by the committee in addressing the phenomenon of bachelors which is carried out in full cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Electricity and Water, are the same procedures that the municipality has been following it since the issuance of Decree Law No. 125 of 1992 until date.
The following are the procedures:
■ The filing of a complaint against the property inhabited by bachelors
■ The Engineering Audit and Follow-up Department in the relevant municipality branch inspects the property to ensure the validity of the complaint
■ The Engineering Audit and Follow-up Department in the relevant municipality branch sends a warning to the property owner
■ Request investigations by detectives in some cases when there is no certainty that there are singles in the property.
■ Draft a violation report against the property owner and sending it to the legal department with the knowledge of the department affiliated to the relevant municipality branch, which has drawn up the violation report.
■ Cut off the electricity to the property in the event that the property is not vacated by the bachelors.
■ Reconnect the power supply to the property after ascertaining the property has been evacuated of singles
He indicated that the committee relies in its procedures to cut off the electricity to the violating homes on Decree Law No. 125 of 1992, the detailed memorandum attached to it, and the letters of the Legal Department that authorized the power cut to the part in violation of the exploited property of a mixture of singles and non-Kuwaiti families.
Al-Ammar explained all the requests for a power cut for real estate are issued at the request of the relevant municipality branch, after completing all procedures at the municipality branch.
