The Director-General of the Kuwait Municipality, Engineer Saud Al-Dabbous, has issued instructions to the Spring Camps Committee team to form field teams to remove all existing camps without exception, issue citations and refer them to the concerned authority so that legal action can be taken against them.
The Al-Rai daily has learned this is a final warning before accountability. Informed sources explained that this step came after monitoring many illegal camps, some of which are in sensitive security, military and economic areas.
They revealed that not granting a license to the expatriates to establish the camp in the next season is a strong possibility, especially since some of them have taken undue advantage and used it as a kind of internal trade.
The source explained that the municipality seeks to encourage the public to camp, but at the same time there are violations and transgressions that cannot be tolerated.
For his part, the head of the spring camps committee, Faisal Al-Otaibi, told Al-Rai daily that the committee will hold a meeting at the beginning of next week with the hygiene departments and road works sector in the municipality, in addition to the relevant authorities, to develop an action plan to completely remove the camps, whether those that were licensed in the previous spring camping season or those that have no license.
He explained that after the committee meeting, the violators will be given a 48-hour period to remove their tents or the issue will be dealt with accordingly.
