The Kuwait Municipality has approved the request of the Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) to allocate 3 sites for data centers and 6 electrical transmission stations within the Jahra Governorate, as per the letter sent by the Director General of the Municipality Eng. Ahmed Al-Manfouhi to the President of the Municipal Council, Abdullah Al-Mahri.
Al-Manfouhi stated that the technical opinion of the municipality came with the approval of allocating a site for a data center in Sulaibiya Agricultural (Plot 8) on 30,000 square meters area and two main power transformers on 3,000 square meters area, and allocating a site north of the South Saad Al-Abdullah city, reports Al-Jarida daily
He pointed out that the municipality required coordination with the Environment Public Authority before implementing the project, and obtaining the approval of the ministries of services before beginning work at the sites, while adhering to the responses of the members of the Sub-Committee for Facilities and Services in its meeting held on October 11, 2022, and amending the dimensions of the sites and stations and their area not exceeding the permitted areas to ensure it does conflict with any of the existing infrastructure services, or for any regulatory reasons during work.
