MOJ statistics show 1,994 felony cases pending before the Prosecution

Statistics issued by the Ministry of Justice for the first quarter of 2023 shows 1,994 felony cases — murder, kidnapping, embezzling money, drugs and banks forgeries — are pending before the Public Prosecution Office.

According to a copy of the statistics obtained by Al-Qabas daily 889 cases were recorded in January, 502 in February, and 603 in March.

The statistics showed murder attempts and assault amounted to 147 of which 56 were recorded in January, 39 in February, and 52 in March.

As for cases of kidnapping, arrest and detention, they numbered 54 — 21 recorded in January, 13 in February and 20 in March.

With regard to drug and psychotropic substances, the statistics showed that they amounted to 544, of which 170 were recorded in January, 135 in February, and 239 in March.

Bank fraud cases amounted to 860, of which 488 were recorded in January, 217 in February, and 155 in March.
