MoI urges Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help deport hardened criminals

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) is finding it difficult to house and feed criminals caught for a range of crimes, and imprisoning them in the country’s prisons, Al-Seyassah daily reported. The security authorities reportedly arrests about 20 people on average a day including drug pushers, bootleggers, drug addicts, and the various nationalities include GCC citizens, Arabs and Asians, and other people.

To solve the problem of expat criminals, the Ministry of Interior has urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to inform the embassies of respective countries to make arrangements for their deportation to their countries even via transit. The daily added, last month alone more than 40 drug-pushers and abusers were arrested by the security authorities and referred to the General Department for Drugs Control (GDDC).

Authorities have been exerting extensive efforts to battle the drug imports and arrest drug peddlers. Only recently, Kuwait Air Cargo Customs department seized 10 kgs of drugs coming in from China to Kuwait, and busted a drugS factory run by an Indian, Egyptian and a Kuwaiti in Salmiya.
