MOI determined to deport illegal residents

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lieutenant General Anwar Al-Barjas, have issued instructions to security leaders to develop a comprehensive plan to arrest the violators of residence and labor laws.

The Al-Rai daily quoting security sources said there are about 150,000 illegal residents living in the country and a majority of them live in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Khaitan, Al-Farwaniya, Mahboula, Amghara and other remote areas.

The sources stressed that the Ministry of Interior is firm in pursuing violators and arresting them. The daily quoting security sources said if anyone — citizens or companies – employ them in violation of the law appropriate legal measures will be taken against the persons responsible.

In the same context, the sources explained that the Ministry of Interior is coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish a mechanism with the embassies of some countries that have large numbers of violators to speed up the completion of deportation procedures, especially since some workers need travel documents to be issued to leave as quickly as possible without waiting weeks or months.
