MOI amends some provisions of ministerial decision concerning home delivery work

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled has amended some provisions of the ministerial decision regarding commercial activities related to the General Traffic Department.

The second article of the decision stipulates that companies and institutions that “provide logistical services, delivers consumer orders, and transport goods” are allowed to replace new motorized vehicles that go out of service, in addition to increasing their number, especially those that have approval from the General Traffic Department to practice the activity.

The decision specified a maximum of 90 vehicles and machinery to allow the activity to be carried out.

The decision requires the following to register new vehicles:

— The company or establishment should have one branch to practice the activity and it should be in a suitable location that does not impede traffic.

— The company or establishment should own at least one private car, 5 light private transport vehicles whose load does not exceed 2 tons, and 6 motorcycles, in addition to a private car and a light transport vehicle that does not exceed 2 tons, and in all cases the number of vehicles must not exceed about 90 for approval to practice the activity.

— The age of the private car or light private transport shall not exceed 3 years from the date of manufacture and end at seven years from the date of manufacture.

— The age of the motorcycle from the beginning of the license to practice the activity should not exceed the year of manufacture, provided that its service ends within 4 years from the date of manufacture.

— The driver of the vehicle is obligated to wear uniform of the company or institution, the specifications of which are determined by the Technical Inspection Department of the General Traffic Department.

— Placing the reflective tape on the box at the back of the motorized bicycles.

— The driver of the motorbike to deliver consumer orders must wear a helmet while driving the bike and it must be in a phosphorescent color, as determined by the General Traffic Department.

— Motorbikes are not allowed on highways and ring roads.
