MoH to spearhead return of 650 stranded Indian nurses abroad

Under the instructions of the Minister of Health Dr. Basel Al-Sabah and Under Secretary Dr. Mostafa Reda, the MoH is assisting in the travel arrangements for 350 male and female nurses stuck in India to fly back to Kuwait where they work in health facilities to service the public and field hospitals that help COVID-infected patients.

350 nurses will arrive in the country today, and 300 others will arrive tomorrow, a daily reported.  The ministry will be housing them in Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital for two days, while they are awaiting the smear test reports for the coronavirus after which they can return to their homes if the tests are found negative.

The nurses had left Kuwait for a stay in their home countries, but were trapped as the coronavirus crisis affected air travel. The Ministry has coordinated with the Indian authorities for the stranded nurses to return, and in a similar manner, Kuwait is working with a number of other countries to return medical, nursing and technical staff to Kuwait during the coming period, after forging an agreement with these countries for the safe travel of their nationals.
